Reflections
Who is this God who calls us to follow Him in dying?
We await freedom from bondage beyond our controlling
Body and mind rotting in waiting -
How can this be a Hallelujah, when it feels like tyranny?
Is it really all for You, My Jesus?
And here we hold all that fades,
Our grasping for life independent;
But there is adventure without escape
To be met in seeing Thy unreflected face.
And so "for your sake we are being killed all the day long" (Rom 8:36);
Shared groans tells us it’s not just me,
Every one of us is nothing but a mess.
If Yours, these moans aren’t undefined pain,
But mysteries that will one day be made plain.
Heal our waiting from the stench of decaying,
Our yearnings unmet, like chords unresolved.
Renew, re-create, redeem the wasted time,
Of imaginary worlds we create to rule and control.
We repent of hearts that want freedom,
From Your desperately needed help.
We wait for hope not yet seen in full,
Comforted by Your Spirit’s patient presence.
